Major indices in the market are holding their morning losses. Nifty Realty index was gaining ground in the pre-lunch hour. The index was trading at 274.5 level, up by 0.77%. In a surprising way for the market, HDIL has turned positive and was top gainer in the index trading at Rs 59.75 per share, up by 5.94%. The stock is having very volatile trade on D-Street.
Other realty stocks like Prestige, DLF, Oberoi Realty and Delta Corp were also trading in positive territory.
There were 434 advances, 1,181 declines and 325 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong negative sentiments floating in the market.
At 1 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31,881 down 132 points, while Nifty is trading at 9,936 down 42 points. A total of 22 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 71 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 1.03% at 15,254, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.67% at 15,797.
Some buying activity is seen in Energy, IT and Metal while Finance, Telecom, Auto are showing weakness on BSE.
Hindalco, NTPC, IOC, Vedanta, Infosys are among the gainers, whereas Aurobindo Pharma, Sun Pharma, Adani Ports, Cipla and Tata Motors are losing sheen on NSE.
The INDIA VIX is up 2.97% at 13.15.
